Meet The Diverse Books Club Team: Lorraine Magee of Miss Magee's Reads

Readers, I am so excited to finally introduce you to my co-moderator for the Diverse Books Club.
This is Lorraine, and she's the first person I called for help when I realized that this project was turning out to be much bigger than I expected. Thank goodness for her, and for the fact that she's always up for making the world a better place.

Lorraine will be serving as the Children's Literature Moderator for the Diverse Books Club.

Lorraine Magee is a teacher, education activist, literacy blogger and an avid reader! She teaches third grade in her hometown of Natick, Massachusetts - in the very classroom where she was a third grade student! Lorraine is currently pursuing an M.Ed. as a reading specialist at Lesley University. She volunteers extensively with She's the First, an organization that supports girls around the world who will be the first in their families to graduate from high school. Lorraine is passionate about issues facing children around the world, and she is thrilled to learn with the Diverse Books Club!

If you're a DBC member, you'll want to make sure you're following Lorraine to receive updates about our children's literature picks each month. She'll be revealing the September selection of picture books on her blog tomorrow!

You can find Lorraine on her blog Miss Magee's Reads, on Instagram @meetmissmagee, and on Twitter @meetmissmagee.

Lorraine and I met while we were undergraduates at American University in Washington, D.C. We bonded over a love for education, politics, and reading children's literature for pleasure. Lorraine also happens to be one of the most genuinely kind and caring people that I know. I am so thankful to have her as a partner in this new adventure.

P.S. This is Lorraine and me with our friend Allie -- also an educator! -- in our sophomore year of college at the infamous Politics and Prose. Because yes, our "nights out" in college mainly consisted of museum hopping and trips to the bookstore. 😂  We are tried and true nerds.

Lorraine, thanks for joining me in this. And readers, Lorraine and I are so, so happy to be part of this new community. Make sure you check her blog tomorrow to see our children's literature picks for September! (And also, friends, stop by her Instagram to say hello!)
